Keep in mind that this is a directory of local area businesses and is being made available to families of all shapes, sizes and ages. People want to know that you exist and they want to know what you have for them that is of interest. We will do everything we can to help you make this happen.

You can help us help you by following these rules and guidelines.

• Number Of Allowed Submissions

One paid or free directory listing per business will be accepted. Subsequent submissions for the same business will be ignored. Persistent subsequent submissions (spamming) for the same business may result in the removal of that business from our directory.

To increase the visibility of your business listing In-Brandon.com, please consider our various advertising programs, news and events listings and full-page business cards.

• Listing Description Content (Not applicable to "Free" listings)

Descriptions of your business should, in sentence form, state the business mission and purpose concisely and accurately. They should not be promotional in nature. Submitting a promotional description rather than an objective, well written description may significantly delay your site from being listed or prevent your site from being listed at all. Examples of a promotional nature might be "Best darned business..", "We're number 1...", "No one can beat our ...", etc. Better to tell everyone exactly what you do or sell and perhaps what makes you unique in some manner. Remember, most potential customers search for things they need, not for "The Best Darned Widget...".

Inappropriate content will result in the immediate disappearance of your submission. A good rule of thumb is "If you wouldn't say it in a third grade classroom, don't say it here".

• Listing Description Size (Not applicable to "Free" listings)

Your business description will need to be 180 characters or less in order to fit properly in the space available. This equates to approximately 30 words. Please check this carefully. Your description risks being truncated (chopped off) if it does not comply with the prescribed length.

If you feel that you need more space to say more things, please consider our various advertising programs, news and events listings and full-page business cards.

• Links To Your Homepage

URL site links submitted to the In-Brandon.com Internet Directory will be audited on a regular basis by our link crawlers. Links submitted must adhere to the following rules:

1) Do not submit mirror sites that have the same content, but different URLs.

2) Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content as other sites you may have listed in the directory. Sites with overlapping and repetitive content are not helpful to users of the directory. Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.

3) Do not disguise your submission and submit the same URL more than once. Example: http://www.myplace.com and http://www.myplace.com/index.html and http://myplace.com/index.html

4) Do not submit any site with an address that redirects visitors to another site.

5) Do not submit sites "under construction." Wait until a site is complete before submitting it. Sites that are incomplete, contain "Under Construction" notices, or contain broken graphics or links aren't good candidates for the directory.

6) Do not submit sites consisting largely of affiliate links and/or advertising.

• Business Links That This Directory Will Not Accept

We will not accept submissions for sites and businesses that contain or offer adult materials. (if you're not sure what this means, then you're probably ok)

We will not accept submissions for sites and businesses that contain gambling online games, such as roulette, poker, bingo, etc. as well as advertisements of gambling houses.

We will not accept submissions for sites and businesses that contain or offer any illegal materials including, but not limited to, libel, pornography & child pornography, copyright violations, propaganda of violence, hatred or fraud, pirated software (warez) or links to other sites that contain it.

• Verification

All submissions to the In-Brandon.com Internet Directory will be verified for the following:

1) Valid Email Address After submitting your directory listing request, you will be sent a confirmation email requesting you to follow a URL to verify that the email address submitted belongs to the person making the submission. If, after 24-hours, no verification has been made, the submission request will be dropped without any further notice.

2) Valid Business Address To the best of our ability, we will verify the physical address and telephone numbers of the business submitted. If we are unable to do so, the submission may be dropped without any further notice.

3) Valid URL The URL submitted that links to your business will be checked to ensure that it actually exists and that it meets our standards outlined above in the "Links To Your Homepage" section.

• Paid Directory Listings

Paid directory listings are on a per annual basis. Prior to the end of each term you will be notified that your directory listing is about to expire and you will be given the opportunity to renew your listing.

There is no guarantee, either explicit or implied, that your listing will be given any type of preferred placement.

In-Brandon.com reserves the right to move or remove the listing at any time without prior notice at our discretion.
